The time here seemed to pass slowly. The sun was setting, and she sat still on the sand, watching as the great orange ball sank down the horizon, the light waves crashing against the sand and threatening to reach up and touch her toes.
With a sad flick of her silver hair, she bent her knees closer, resting her arms over her legs, pulling them even closer. Her chin rested lightly on her knees, that silver hair curled and long from not cutting it. Her friend had sent her to this house for a vacation away. Little did she know, that all she really wanted was some company. Sure, she could live on her own, but she just needed someone to talk to for a while.
Clad in jean shorts and a flowing white blouse, Jay sat on the beach, wishing this sunset would last forever. Next to her sat her drawing pad, the picture of the beach earlier taking life on the page. She sighed, the young girl closing her eyes as she listened to the waves break on the shore, the rhythm causing her mind to relax and her pale skin to soak up the rest of the sun that was slowly melting away.

The sun had just set, and the job was done. He had successfully taken another despicable being off of the map. He had been paid to take care of an abusive husband, the most despicable of men if you can call them that. This man had mercilessly beat his wife mere seconds from death, he had saved her with his arcane abilities. Such a waste, no such monster should be able to cause such harm to a woman and then fix it just to do it again. Demitri had snuck into the beings house as he slept in an alcoholic coma and simply snapped his neck, it had been one of his easiest jobs and yet one of his most rewarding. After the man, for lack of a better term, was dead he incinerated the body to remove any evidence he would simply be another missing person from the slime of the land. On his way home he walked onto the beach, he met Adrianna there every night, and noticed a woman sitting by the surf. Before he could say anything Adrianna ran up to him and jumped into his arms.

The waves crashed and she would have kept her eyes closed if she didn't sense the presence of another being. With a soft turn of the head, she caught sight of a young daughter and father hugging. This sent a large pain into her chest, and she pulled herself closer, squeezing her eyes shut with a force that she hadn't imagined could come from her. The youngling bent her toes, digging them into the sand that sat merciless against her.
Her jaw tightened, and she felt her gray eyes well up with tears. She missed her family. She almost wished that she had been mature enough to blend into society like she did now. She didn't even accept that she was a witch anymore. She hid most of her magical abilities, pretending like she was just some plain human. Prentending to be the scum that her sisters thought was the dirt of society was apparently better than abusing your powers though.
She sighed, taking one more daring look at the two before returning her gaze to the darkening sky. She would soon need to leave and go into the beach house that sat behind her. The large home that she could never imagine filling. She could have been like anyother college student, partying it up on a beach, but of course, she didn't attend college. So, for now, she would sit in the home by herself, dreaming up quaint fantasies of parties and friends that she didn't have to leave behind.
She stood up with that thought, turning to leave back to the beach house, completely forgetting about her sketch book that lay near the dangerous sea.

When Demitri let Adrianna out of his embrace he looked up and saw a figure walking towards a small beach house. Adrianna turned and saw the figure as well, and noticed a sketch pad sitting by the sea. She sprinted straight towards the ocean to rescue the pad, she snatched up the book and held it over top her head just as a wave crashed onto the beach. Demitri watched her spin around and run towards the figure holding the pad

That uncanny sense of her's caused her to look back once more, and there she found her sketchpad being manhandled by the tinest little girl. She smiled, and walked towards her. Man, she was a cutie. "Why, hello there. Seems you have my drawing book," she said with a gentle smile, bending to a crouch so that she was more eye level with the girl.
The wind blew on, causing a few strands of her silver hair to blow past her and twirl behind her head. The wind ceased, causing the strands to rest in a winded look. She held out her hand for the pad and smiled, glad to just have human interaction. "Might I have that back?" she asked, watching the small girl with a sense of curiousity. Why was she hear at this time of evening? and why wasn't she running for the water ready to play?

He walked up to the woman that was talking to his daughter, she was stunning. As he walked up to her he was trying to decide what he would say, he felt something he had not felt since before his wife died, he felt well he didn't want to go that far yet, he had not even met the woman yet. He walked silently, not purposely but out of habit, and as he was walking up her hair blew around her head and the end result made her even more beautiful in his eyes. When he got up to her she had not even noticed him walk up. He decided to just say hello, why was this so difficult its not like he had never done this before. After a few seconds of mental preparation he finally said it "Hello there, I see you've met my daughter."

Hearing the voice, she looked up from the silent girl to the man that towered over her. She had always thought she was tall, but he was a giant. She bit her lip, worried that maybe he was upset that a stranger was talking to his daughter. "Oh, um hello," she said with a tiny wave to the man. "Oh, and yes I have. She's very cute," she said with a smile. She then looked back down at the girl who still clutched her drawing pad. "What's your name?" she asked again, chosing to not worry about the pad for now. She was sure that she would get it back eventually. She then took a small glance at the man before. "Do you live here?" she asked, wondering if he knew more about why people didn't come to this beach so much.

He could see the fear in her eyes as he stood over her, a fear that was wrongly based. He looked at the woman and said "We just moved in and have a temporary arrangement with an innkeeper." He then crouched down so he was level with the two girls, turned to Adrianna and said "Well, go on tell her your name." Adrianna then told what she thought to be her new found friend her name and then exult the drawings that she saw in her sketchbook, she went on for what seemed like five whole minutes before she took a breath. Demitri took this opportunity, he stood up and looked at the woman "This may be fairly late notice but since you seem to be the only one home and since my daughter has taken such a liking to you how about you join us for dinner?" as he said this he held out his right hand to help her up and Adrianna began to beg for her to come.

She nodded, looking to the beach house that she should be going to, but then quickly looking back at the giant. "That sounds lovely," she said absentmindedly, having no clue about the places here. She had just arrived the other night for her well needed vacation in her friend's beach house. With a smile, Jaydyn listened carefully to the young girl go off about her drawings. She grinned, watching the young girl with extreme interest. She had always wondered what it would be like to have a young child around with her all the time. She assumed it would grow tiring. Young children had spunk that this little witch didn't have much of anymore. Once she stopped talking, Jaydyn smiled, holding her pad of drawings. "Thanks," she said to Adrianna once she got her drawing pad. She then reached up, gently placing her hand in Demitri's to pull herself up. "Um, well," she begun, feeling bad that she was going to say no. She looked down the begging child, and she felt her stomach knot up. "I guess there isn't much harm," she finally added, the young child swaying her decision. If this man killed her, she would blame the child for it all.

On the way to their way back to their house Adrianna led the new girl far ahead of Demitri, she was to excited to walk so she ran. When he were about a block from the house Demitri saw a man tackle his daughter and punch her. Enraged Demitri ran at the crook, and kicked him in the stomach. The force of the kick sent the man reeling into the nearest wall, but wasn't strong enough to render him unconscious. He got back up and pulled out a short knife. He ran clumsily at Demitri, obviously drunk, and stabbed forwards with the knife. Demitri easily sidestepped the drunken man's thrust; grabbed his wrist, twisted his arm upside down, and slammed his elbow down on the other man's. The drunk howled in pain and dropped the knife as the sound of his shattering arm filled the alleyway. The drunk immediately took a swing at Demitri's head with his other arm and landed a solid punch. Demitri staggered back a few steps from the blow, and the man charged and threw another punch. Again Demitri sidestepped, but this time extended his foot to trip the man, grabbed his wrist, and instead of breaking it swung him towards a wall, his head connected with the wall, and the sound of his skull shattering was heard for block. His brain seeped through his ears and blood smeared down the wall as he slid to the ground.

The darkened streets had left her feeling anxious, not being one to really enjoy the night life. The excitement from little Adrianna had given her a false sense of security, and through this, she hadn't been expecting that attack. She had the little girl pulled from her and punched. This sent a motherly instinct in her to explode, and once the man was pulled off from the girl, Jay reached toward the child, wrapping her into her arms.
She heard what was going on behind her, but ignoring the fight, she shielded the child against her. Her slender arms wrapped around the girl, and suddenly, an explosion of white light surrounded herself and Adrianna. Comfortable warmth, like summer heat, kissed the two girls, and some of the surrounding area. Having seen the girl's injuries had caused the buried witch within her to crawl out.
The light started to fade, the extreme warmth floating away with it. Once the blindness faded, the sight of Jaydyn still cradling little Adrianna was seen. The child's injuries were gone, the only bruising left being that in her mind from being attacked.

Demitri looked up from the drunk and saw this new girl and his daughter in the alleyway. She was holding Adrianna and shielding her from any other possible attacks. He looked away from them and noticed that they were in front of the doorway to their apartment. "Adrianna take our guest inside, and make sure she's ok. I'll be in shortly"

Jaydyn followed Adrianna inside, sitting down with her on a couch in a living room. She peered around, her eyes taking in the sights of the home that the two had. "Do you like it here?" she asked little Adrianna, not really listening as she thought of what had just happened. She had just healed this little girl. Adrianna had stirred within her a feeling of need. Need to protect and heal. It had caused her to use her powers, something she hadn't done for a long time. She also wondered how Demitri had known what to do in that situation. He was a strong man, but not all strong men knew how to destroy another human being like he had just done. It was puzzling, and through this, she sat on the couch, thinking of all the possibilities.

Adrianna looked up at this lady that had helped her in the alleyway, true she hadn't protected her but she healed her. How had she done that, the only person she had ever seen use any powers was her father and a select few others at her old home. She was about to ask her but before she could ask her father walked through the door. Demitri had only been a minute or so behind them, he had to dispose of the body. Even though everything he had done was justified and would have been clear defense, he wasn't about to risk it, so he incinerated the body in the alley. When he walked in he had Adrianna stand still and he examined her for cuts or abrasions and then tested her for a cuncussion, she was negative for everything. This woman had done what he thought she had done, healed his daughter with magick. He looked at the woman and said "I saw what you did in the alley and I am thankful. I don't believe that we have been properly introduced, and what would you like to eat?"

She watched little Adrianna, watched as her face showed the fear and confusion from being jumped. Whatever the reasoning was for that man to jump them, he was a disgusting person. She didn't care if he was drunk, he had attacked a child. A little girl who couldn't defend herself if she tried. Once the door was opened, Jaydyn seemed to sink into the shadows. Rightfully so. This man was being sure to take care of his daughter, like any father should. She looked back up from picking her nails when he started to talk. It seemed like it had been years since anyone had said anything, even if it was only a few minutes. She listened to his thanks, and then realized that they hadn't been introduced. She just knew Adrianna's name. She swallowed, and stood up. She looked tired and weak, something that amount of magic caused. She still held out her hand. "I'm Jaydyn," she said softly, even her voice sounding tired.

He could see the weariness in this woman's eyes, she was tired the use of her power had drained her greatly. He couldn't have her out on the streets like this, she would have to spend the night here, this would sound very forward of him to suggest this but he would anyways."Well Jaydyn my name is Demitri, I do not know how you have your gift but it seems to have drained you. I will make you whatever you would like for dinner and then you may spend the night here with us." Unfortunately their house was small and only had a kitchen and two bedrooms, Adrianna's and his. Adrianna had already gone to bed and was in a state not unlike a coma, he would not be able to wake her. He would have to sleep somewhere in the kitchen tonight, he would give Jaydyn his bedroom. "As you can see there are only two bedrooms, you may take mine I will find a way to sleep in here."

Jaydyn shook his hand and nodded. She sat down on the couch and looked up at him, knowing that offer was one she should take, but she felt like she should go back to the beach house. It was her vacation after all. She bit her lip and looked down. "Um, well whatever you are having is fine. I'm not picky," she muttered, looking back up at him. "And, I have my gift, because I was born with it," she said very quietly, looking towards the bedrooms that Adrianna had previous scampered off to. She picked at her nail and then looked back up at him. "I don't want to intrude. I mean, I still have the beach house and I need to occupy it," she muttered, running a slender hand through her silver hair.

Demitri was looking into her eyes, she did not know but her body right now was full of adrenaline and that was the only thing that was keeping her from passing out. In a few minutes that adrenaline would leave her body and she would find movement very difficult. This is how it is the first time you use magic; or if you do not use it very often, which he could tell she didn't, magic put a great strain on your body and if you were not used to the strain you could not handle it. The first time he had used magic he was a small child and he was passed out for almost 2 days. "I do not wish to sound to forward or mean but, you wont make it back to the beach house. The adrenaline from the attack is the only thing keeping you on your feet, and once that goes away then you will find movement almost impossible. Also being alone at night in that part of town is dangerous anyways and if it is seen that you are a girl you will seem an easier target. You may not think you are but after the physical drainage from using magic, well the first time I used it I was passed out for 40 hours you won't pass out because you have used them before but it seems like it has been a while so you will be physically drained for a while. These are the only reasons that I insist that you stay here, you may take my room I will find other sleeping arrangements."

She was exhausted, and the adrenaline was slowly leaving her. She could feel it. She felt her eyes droop, and all she felt like doing was sleeping. She knew it was an extremely bad idea to sleep in a nearly stranger's home, but she didn't have many options. He didn't appear to have a vehicle, and it was a long walk back. One that she most likely couldn't do again. She nodded at his advice. She knew it was all true, especially the girl being the target part. She frowned, unsure if she would be an easy target in this house too. She knew nothing about this man, only knew that he was capable of smashing her small silver head into a wall and killing her in a blink of an eye. She swallowed a lump that had formed in her throat and looked up at him. "I really appreciate that, thank you Demitri," she muttered to him. "Although, I would prefer that you sleep in your room. I can always sleep on the couch. I am much smaller than you are."

He could see her slowly drifting off, she was losing energy faster than he thought she would, she would be asleep in a matter of seconds. He would much prefer she slept in his room, it was behind the kitchen, that way if someone did try and break in he would be able to keep her safe. Even though she may not have been part of her family, she was in his house and he was therefore responsible for her safety. He was about to voice his opinion but he could see that her eyes were almost completely closed, so he decided against saying anything that way she could get to sleep.
